62. ‘A Brand called YOU’ with Gaurava Yadav at SCoRe
The
School of Communications & Reputation (SCoRe) organised a three-hour
workshop for its students on Communities of purpose & relevance. The
session was led by Guarava Yadav, Founder & CEO, EduAce Services. The
session started in a very unusual manner when he gave a disclaimer about how to
take everything with a pinch of salt. Within a short period, he gave us many
insights and tips for our career. Following are some of the key learnings
explained in brief:
·
‘The
Brand Called You’
He stressed upon personal
branding and how we should see ourselves as individual brands. He explained the
importance of personal branding especially for reputation management
professional. During the last three months at SCoRe, we have had to introduce
ourselves to multiple people, but, the introduction in the workshop was a
little different. To get a better understanding of personal branding each
student had to introduce themselves as a brand. It includes what are they
called, and what they stand for.
·
Three
key traits:
1.
Carry
the right kind of attitude and aspire to be of value to people around you.
2.
Always
have a go-getter attitude to make the most of every opportunity.
3.
Be
fiercely loyal to yourself.
·
Be
the best in what you are good at. If you are good at something aim for
excellence in it.
·
Some
important tips for ‘The Brand Called You’:
1.
A
brand should communicate well: Never think that people will assume for
themselves. Bring clarity, precision and ambiguity in your messaging.
2.
A
brand should resonate the inherent quality it possesses. Always be articulate
in your storytelling, on each and every platform. What you say should resonate
with what you stand for as a brand.
3.
A
brand needs to reinvent itself regularly.
·
Real
victory is when you walk the talk. Always stand by your words. That is the most
important thing in personal branding and helps in obtaining trust.
·
Be
a better brand every day. Promise, deliver, be consistent, be relevant, and
reinvent regularly.
Apart from this we also learned
about micro-level community and the importance and power of community building.
He ended the workshop saying,
assess every session with one key change that it brings in your conduct. If it
doesn’t change anything, it is of less value. I learned a lot of things from
his session, but, the most prominent learning is how to analyse ‘The Brand
Called Me.’
