89. 40K for a Social Cause

“What is that one social cause you feel passionate about?” She asked me.

“I can’t choose one. How can I choose one? There are too many things that I want to do. I see so many people in need of help but few resources to do something about it.” I said.

This was my constant dilemma. I could not decide what I feel passionate about because there is too much to feel for. I want to say education, and then I think environment welfare, maybe. But then education is also equally important because it will help people become conscious about their conduct, at home and outside. But then the environment is priority right now. And then I think, Poverty! Of course Poverty!

Okay, now I am confused again. Are you?

The more I think about it, the more I realise that lack of education is at the core of most of the issues in society. Granted there are a few exceptions, but if everyone has access to education it would be a good start towards collective welfare.

I think education is a must and at the same time I feel for the underprivileged who did not have access to it.

I am from a very small village in Madhya Pradesh. Growing up, I was sent to the city nearby so that I can get quality education. Now, whenever I visit my hometown I see so many people in need of money, job but their lack of education makes them ineligible for some occupations. I see helpless women sitting at home, with their children. There are multiple mouths to feed and no job to do so.

If I get 40K I want to do something for those women. I believe, learning and education is not restricted to any certain age. To learn, one only needs the will. There is plenty of talent; we just need a medium to channelize it properly.

With the grant money, I want to create that medium. I will call for 2-3 trainers from the city to teach the women in need some basic skills so that they can earn a living out of it. I will organise a few days workshop for women to get certified courses and practical knowledge in tailoring, nursing, baking, and beauty parlour services.

I will garner earned media traction around the activity through digital platforms so that people outside the geographic limitations of the district can also know about it. On social media platforms, I will encourage feedback to get mass participation. I will also encourage people to donate a small but significant amount so that workshops like these can be regularly organised in different villages.
