53. Redefining Beauty
Beauty.
What is beauty?
Google says, Beauty is a combination
of qualities, such as shape, color or form that pleases the aesthetic senses,
especially the sight.
Beautiful.
What makes one beautiful?
Google says, Beautiful is something that
pleases our senses or mind aesthetically. The synonyms are - attractive, pretty
and good looking.
We call someone beautiful when they
look good, when they are in a nice shape, color and pleasing to our eyes.
We are often told that outer beauty
is not what makes one beautiful, that one must possess inner beauty. But we
always forget this very point when we judge someone by their looks or even
ourselves for that matter.
Which brings me to the point, why
even 'Judge'? Why is there a need to judge someone or even judge ourselves?
But then I realize, talking about
this is pointless. Judging is a basic human instinct. The first thing we do
when we see someone is judge them by their appearance. The first thing we do
before we exit our house is judge our appearance.
How people look at you. How they see
you is not important. It should not matter. But it does and I understand that,
but you should always know what the real deal is about.
The real deal is-
"Your perception of
yourself."
How you see yourself? Do you
consider yourself beautiful or an average? Do you feel confident under your own
skin or not is what matters. Or rather I say what should.
Don't follow the stereotypical
society. The society which says-
"You should work out and start
dieting to lose some weight.”
"Use fairness cream for your
dark skin."
"Your long height makes you
look manly."
Stop listening to what the society
has to say about you for a moment. But rather start figuring what you think
about yourself. Bring such a confidence within you that the society can't
destroy. Accept that you are beautiful.
Because, you are who you are for a
reason. You look how you do for a reason and I think not accepting that is like
not accepting yourself.
Your kind heart makes you beautiful.
Every little positive thing within
you defines your beauty.
So, let’s stop believing Google or
the society for once and say out loud and clear.
‘I am Beautiful.’
