45. Three months at SCoRe, My journey so far
Three
months ago I shifted to Mumbai from Indore, from my home. It is funny how many
of us leave our hometown, family, friends, and home-cooked meals behind to
shift to a new unfamiliar city in search of a better life. It may seem difficult
but now has become a usual practice, especially for young aspiring
professionals who want to grow in their careers. The big cities offer better
opportunities.
I
came to the city to pursue a PG diploma in Corporate Communications and Public
Relations with the School of Communication & Reputation (SCoRe). SCoRe is
the only college in India dedicated to public relations. It provides a ten-month
intensive training programme inclusive of 30+ courses, various masterclasses and
industry visits. It is a golden opportunity for young aspiring PR professionals
to learn from working professionals in the fraternity and apply the knowledge
in real-time through various daily activities and assignments.
Shifting
to Mumbai was exciting and daunting at the same time. The city seemed very
intimidating at first, but, the thought of stepping into the real corporate
world excited me more. It has been three months since I joined SCoRe, at first
I was very sceptical about what the programme will offer. I came with a certain
set of expectations and so far SCoRe has surpassed all those in the best way
possible.
The
journey so far has been nothing short of exciting. It has given me a lot of
exposure to the profession and its people, I had the opportunity to meet many
of them at PRAXIS 2019. For the first time, from a career perspective I felt as
if I belong somewhere, that I am in the right field at the right time.
We
are a batch of 20 students at SCoRe, each amazingly talented in their own
unique way. Amidst it all, I had the chance to explore myself, my interests,
strengths, and weaknesses and how to work on them. I have had many exciting
days, tiring days, happy days, days when I felt homesick and days when I felt
at home. Many ups and downs but learning at the core.
So
far, it has been a journey of continuous learning and unlearning, and meeting
new people. Each day has been unique and something to look forward to.
